Procrastination

Procrastination

Everyone procrastinates. At least once in your life, you've procrastinated on an assignment or task. For some, its better or worse. Depending on how often one procrastinates, and how badly the means is. If you wait till literally an hour before a huge project is due for school or work, then you're on the worse ends of procrastination.

So why do we do it?

We procrastinate because it seems more comfortable. There are other things besides that task that we would rather be doing. Also, we tell ourselves we still have a lot of time still, even when we don't.

And even though we naturally do it all the time, its obviously not a good thing. You want to try to stop this bad habit before it becomes worse. Here are some tips to stop you, and myself, from procrastinating.

Break the task down into little steps, and make deadlines for yourself

Instead of rushing something the night before its really due, do it in little steps. This will the make the work seem not as bad, and make you more willing to do the work. The deadlines allow you to know when you should break up the parts.  You can make as many deadlines as you want. Whatever is more comfortable.

Get away from distracting things when you're doing work

If you're one of those people who get distracted easily, then seclude yourself away from distracting things such as the television and games. Sit in a closet and do your work if you have to. Instead of spending several hours to do something while you're distracted, just take 30 minutes to do something quickly and get it over with so you can go back to doing fun things.

Those are just a few tips that can help you stop procrastinating. Its really a bad habit that should be broken.
